Committed to excellence in resolving all matters related to divorce and custody for clients east and west of the river.
A prenuptial agreement ("prenup" or premarital agreement) may be a useful tool to protect individuals entering into a marriage. The contract provides for a future division of assets or other arrangements in the case of divorce. Specifically, prenuptial agreements may be appropriate for couples who marry at a later age after acquiring considerable assets, have children or expect to inherit family wealth.
In preparing prenuptial agreements, the law requires that both parties:
- have ample time to review the prenuptial document
- have the opportunity to consult with independent counsel
- make a full disclosure of assets
In the event that as part of your divorce, your spouse is challenging the validity of your prenuptial agreement, Attorney Eisenberg can assist you in your efforts to enforce the agreement. Conversely, she is experienced in representing clients who challenge the validity of a prenuptial agreement that they had previously signed.
If you are facing a family legal matter, contact an experienced attorney at the Law of Offices Deborah R. Eisenberg, LLC. We would be happy to meet with you regarding your case and provide you with an assessment.
